Director of Colleague Advancement, WFH/Abingdon OX14/Hybrid, £competitive salary + 25% bonus + full benefits

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Director of Colleague Advancement to join our people-first HR Team.

This role has global remit and will be responsible for aiding colleague progression and growth in alignment with overall Reward and Retention strategies for the organisation through the creation of clear Career Pathways. Partnering with other people teams, you will primarily be focusing on the development of a best-in-class career pathways framework, aligned to a performance management system which helps to showcase the organisation, both as a prospective employer of choice for external job seekers and as motivational tool for existing colleagues.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead a benchmarking process to review best practices in relation to the identification of high potential colleagues through talent review and career progression process.
  • Lead project teams across departments, People team colleagues and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the business to enable the articulation, development and adoption of stepping stones within clearly integrated career pathways, both vertical and horizontal, and which are aligned with our culture and values.
  • Support/nurture business leaders’ appetite for adoption of processes through building effective and trusted relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Co-create with other HR teams a strategy for the creation of career pathways analysing the ‘as-is’ state and recommending the future state of pathways.
  • Act as trusted partner (both within and outside of the HR team) to educate and guide on career advancement issues, shaping the whole employee proposition to ensure we can attract and retain talent in a competitive market.
  • Determine transferable skills across the organization to illustrate ‘career jungle gym’ approach to career development.
  • Work closely with Professional Learning & Organizational Development team to create skills tool kits to enable development within and across pathways.
  • Build team to be curious to identify gaps, opportunities for improvement in performance management, and areas for alignment/co-ordination, and communicate them to HR SLT.
  • Partner with our Policy and Reward Director to ensure alignment of philosophy and processes for promotion, pay for skills, and skills development.
  • Ensure that our career advancement policy clearly relates reward, grading and job families, helping colleagues to understand clearly the proper career advancement path within the business.
  • Develop a robust governance structure for all promotion and career pathway processes.
  • Produce insightful advancement reports, including narrative and alignment to organisational strategy.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience in the design and implementation of employee programs, and the ability to track the results of them
  • An interest in organisational culture and values with a sensitivity and understanding towards local cultural norms that exist across a global organisation
  • Experience with programme management and process improvement
  • Engaging communication style with high attention to detail across all written communication mediums
  • Experience in a global multinational organisation to execute strategy via an often matrix environment
  • Experience in employee analytics methods to gauge engagement
  • Experience in people operations, strategic HR areas in a global organisation
