Credit Controller (initial 6 month contract), Farnborough GU14, £13ph to £15ph DOE + benefits

My client is a technology-based company in Farnborough who is looking for a Credit Controller to join their Finance Team, initially on a 6 month contract but with the potential for this to be extended/become permanent after this initial period.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Finance Manager the Credit Controller will form a key part of this busy team.  This role has responsibility for managing the credit control for the whole sales ledger.

Essential main job functions:

  • Chasing payments via telephone, email, statement and letter
  • Building strong relationships with clients
  • Liaising with the Sales team in order to resolve queries
  • Liaising with IT team in order to resolve systems issues
  • Credit checking and monitoring credit limits
  • Reconciliation of client accounts, and identifying potential bad debts 
  • Assisting with the sales ledger (processing sales invoices and cash receipts)
  • Cash collections forecasting and reporting

Day to day activities will include:

  • Credit control – chasing overdue payments, by phone, email, statement.
  • Credit control – chasing missing purchase orders and checking invoices meet the client’s criteria so they can be paid on time
  • Credit control – reviewing/credit checking new account applications
  • Credit control – liaising with sales team to resolve any disputes
  • Sales ledger – emailing/posting sales ledger invoices, reconciling accounts
  • Sales ledger – checking bank statements and recording cash receipts

Experience/qualifications required:

  • Proven ability to work as part of a (Finance) team including taking instruction and following set processes
  • At least 2 years’ experience within a credit control role
  • Self-motivated, a confident communicator, patient and an unflappable nature    
  • Detail oriented with high standards of accuracy in both written and spoken English
  • A strong working knowledge of MS Office including Excel and Word
  • Ideally experience of Quickbooks

Other Information

  • Hours of work will be 9.15am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday (i.e. 36.25 hours per week)
  • This role will be primarily working from home for the foreseeable future, but you should be happy to go into the office as and when required. (There is free on-site parking available.)
